Barbara Bigford graduated with a BS degree from Columbia University School of Oral and Dental Surgery. Early in her career Barbara practiced in the medical profession as a part time dental hygienist and also worked as a QVC product demonstrator. It wasn’t long before Barbara was demonstrating her own product invention, Beach Pockets® on live TV.
Barbara Bigford’s success story is an entrepreneur’s dream. Her invention, Beach Pockets®, an umbrella anchor, have sold nationally and internationally to hundreds of retailers including Wal-Mart, QVC, SuperValu, Walgreens, Albertsons and created exclusive designs for Lilly Pulitzer.
Exposure for her product has ranged from a TV news documentary, featured product on the TV Show: The View, to several articles including The Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer, LA Times, and Kiplinger Finance Magazine.
Today, Barbara shares her storied experiences as a keynote speaker, classroom instructor and a consultant to several businesses developing new products. Barbara is the Entrepreneur-In-Residence at Villanova University’s ICE Institute (Innovation, Creativity, Entrepreneurship) and a member on the Villanova University Advisory Council. Barbara received her Certificate for Teaching Entrepreneurship Education from Babson College in Boston, Mass.
